On December 19, 2025, Professor Wang Qingwei, Professor of Finance and Head of the Accounting and Finance Section at Cardiff Business School, Cardiff University, UK, paid a visit to our school. Present at the meeting were Yu Wei, Secretary of the Party Committee of the School of Public Policy and Administration; Li Kaifeng, Head of the Finance Department of the School of Economics and Management; Li Yan, Deputy Director of the International Affairs Office; Gong Yunlong, Director of the Office of International Cooperation and External Exchanges of the School of Public Policy and Administration; and Ma Yajing, Deputy Director of the same office. The meeting was chaired by Gong Yunlong.
At the beginning of the meeting, Secretary Yu Wei extended a warm welcome to Professor Wang Qingwei, reviewed the history of academic exchanges between the two sides, and emphasized the significance of this exchange in deepening inter-university cooperation. Subsequently, Gong Yunlong introduced the basic information of China University of Mining and Technology, as well as the school’s characteristics, faculty structure and disciplinary layout. Director Li Kaifeng elaborated on the history, disciplinary strengths and student training scale of the School of Economics and Management. Professor Wang Qingwei elaborated on Cardiff University’s educational positioning, geographical advantages, disciplinary rankings and faculty strength, and shared the university’s practical experience in international talent cultivation.
The two sides held discussions centering on four core topics: improving discipline construction, innovating talent training, deepening international cooperation, and educational reform in the era of artificial intelligence. Consensus was reached on cooperation in multiple areas, including exploring a "3+1" joint undergraduate-master’s training program, co-building a summer school platform, promoting faculty exchanges, and jointly developing international courses in emerging fields such as artificial intelligence.
This exchange has built an efficient communication bridge between the two universities. In the future, both sides will further refine cooperation plans, promote the implementation of the consensus, help improve the quality and efficiency of discipline construction and the internationalization of talent training, and create a broader academic development platform for teachers and students.
