Departments

The school currently provide doctoral education in the first-level discipline of Public Administration and six second-level disciplines.

The school offers three undergraduate programs, Administrative Management and Land Resource Management, listed as the National First-class Majors in 2021 and 2022 respectively, and Emergency Management, a new major ranked the third nationwide in the Best Chinese Disciplines Ranking.


Administrative Management

The Department of Administrative Management has gradually formed a complete educational system, with multi-channels and multi-levels including programs for bachelors, masters and doctoral degrees. The Administrative Management discipline has been awarded as key subject in Jiangsu Province. The department is now led by Associate Professor Caoming, as the Head of the department.

Administrative management major aims to cultivate individuals who can adapt to the needs of the modernization of the national governance system and governance capabilities. Students are expected to have a comprehensive understanding of basic knowledge in politics, management, economics, law, and other related fields. They should also acquire a systematic grasp of the theories, methods, and skills in the field of administrative management major. The department has 16 full-time teachers, including 7 professors, 5 associate professors, and 4 lecturers.

Core courses in the major include: Public Management,Public Policy Analysis, Research Methods in Public Management, Principles of Administration, Leadership in Administration, Government Performance Management, Public Economics, Public Human Resources Management, Administrative Law and Administrative Procedure Law, Administrative Ethics, History of Administrative Thought, Public Safety Management, Emergency Management, Social Organization Management, and Introduction to Smart Government.

Land Resource Management

The Department of Land Resources Management is one of the earliest teaching and research institutions in China which conducts land reclamation, cadastral surveying, and ecological restoration in mining areas. The department’s goal is to cultivate individuals who master the fundamental theories of modern management, resource science, and economics. Students are expected to have a thorough understanding of the basic knowledge of land and resource utilization and management. They undergo training in essential skills such as land and resource surveying, cadastral management, land spatial planning, land policy analysis, real estate appraisal, and comprehensive land resource utilization. Graduates are equipped with practical skills in areas such as surveying, adjustment, planning, evaluation, registration, and management, they become versatile professionals engaged in work related to natural resource surveying, land information systems, valuation of resource assets, land spatial planning, and comprehensive land resource management.The Land Resource Management discipline has also been awarded as key subject in Jiangsu Province.

The department is now led by Professor Li Yongfeng, as the Head of the department.The department currently has 25 full-time teachers and postdoctoral researchers, including 6 professors, 13 associate professors, 4 lecturers, and 2 postdoctoral researchers. The department has undertaken more than 50 projects, with an annual average research funding of 5 million RMB.

As of 2021, the department has educated over 1500 undergraduate, master’s, and doctoral students for society. The employment rate of graduates is 100%, with 20% of students with exemption of examinations and more than 40% pursuing further studies or going abroad.

Emergency Management

The Emergency Management major aims to cultivate individuals who can adapt to the modernization needs of the national emergency governance system and emergency management capabilities. Students are expected to have a comprehensive understanding of basic knowledge in politics, management, economics, law, and society. Furthermore, they should systematically grasp the theories, methods, and skills of emergency management. This is anew major ranked the third nationwide in the Best Chinese Disciplines Ranking.

The department is now led by Professor Xu Chao, as the Head of the department.The department currently has 14 full-time teachers, including 4 professors, 3 associate professors, 6 lecturers, and 1 postdoctoral researcher.
