School of Public Policy & Management Holds Orientation Meeting for the 2024 Freshmen

On the evening of September 5th, the School of Public Policy & Management held an orientation meeting for the class of 2024 freshmen at the Information Control College Auditorium. Attending the meeting were Secretary Yu Wei, Dean Wang Yibao, Deputy Secretary Liu Haiming, Deputy Deans Wang Feng and Li Aibin, directors of various departments, heads of various sections, class teachers for the class of 2024, and full-time and part-time counselors. The meeting was chaired by Deputy Secretary Liu Haiming, with all freshmen of the class of 2024 from the School of Public Policy & Management in attendance.

At the beginning of the meeting, Deputy Secretary Liu Haiming welcomed all the new students and introduced the attending leaders and teachers.

Dean Wang Yibao, on behalf of all faculty and staff, extended a warm welcome to the 282 new students of the class of 2024. He then introduced the history of China University of Mining and Technology, the development history of the School of Public Policy & Management, and the current state of the school. He expressed three expectations for the students: to cherish time and study diligently; to cultivate character and develop comprehensively; and to be concerned about the country and be willing to take responsibility. He hoped that the students would achieve their goals and dreams at the university and strive to become new era individuals capable of shouldering the great responsibility of national rejuvenation.

Teacher Zhu Yuanli, the class teacher for Land Resource Management Class 24-2, spoke as a representative of the teachers. Teacher Zhu emphasized that the undergraduate stage is an important phase for laying a solid foundation, while the postgraduate stage focuses more on research and innovation. She shared her personal experiences, hoping that students could enhance themselves, explore themselves, and achieve themselves.

Song Xiyuan, the chairman of the Student Union, shared his personal experience at the School of Public Policy & Management. He encouraged students to maintain a positive and optimistic attitude when facing difficulties, to cherish their time at school, and to promote the spirit of the university characterized by self-improvement, hard work, and the pursuit of excellence.

Meng Jiaqi, a representative of the undergraduate freshmen, narrated her indissoluble bond with the university, expressing her intention to make full use of university resources to improve herself, make like-minded friends, and also conveyed her beautiful expectations for college life.

Kuang Rui, a master's student in Emergency Management from the class of 2023, shared her learning experience at the university and offered her thoughts and suggestions: to pursue academic depth and intellectual height; to achieve the unity of personal and social value; and to face challenges bravely and be willing to take responsibility.

Song Liyuan, a representative of the graduate freshmen, shared her thoughts on personal growth with her classmates: to have ideals, to be able to endure hardship, and to be willing to strive, hoping to pursue excellence in knowledge and increase capabilities in practice with her classmates.

The orientation meeting concluded with the university anthem. The meeting provided the freshmen with a more comprehensive understanding of the School of Public Policy & Management, offering them valuable guidance for study and life, and helping them better adapt to the upcoming college life.
