Mainly engaged in research on safety and emergency law, social law, economic law, public safety and emergency management. He has presided over 3 national-level research projects including the National Social Science Fund Project and the National Soft Science Project; 4 provincial-level research projects such as the Ministry of Education Planning Fund Project, the Ministry of Justice National Legal and Jurisprudential Theory Research Project, and the Jiangsu Provincial Social Science Fund Project; and participated in more than 10 provincial-level scientific research projects of the State Administration of Work Safety, the Ministry of Emergency Management, etc. He has published one monograph and successively published more than 40 papers in SSCI journals, CSSCI journals, Peking University core journals and other domestic and foreign academic journals. Many research achievements have won provincial/municipal-level awards.

He has taught multiple undergraduate and graduate courses, and participated in compiling several textbooks such as Safety Law, Twelve Lectures on Emergency Management, and Social Law. The practical teaching activities guided and led by him for students have been reported by China Youth Daily, Xinhua Daily, People's Court Daily, and the Lawyer's Perspective column of Shanghai Dragon TV. As the plaintiff in a telecom contract dispute case against a certain telecommunications company, he was identified by the Supreme People's Court as the 64th civil law guiding case, and the case was used as a material for the 2016 National Legal Professional Qualification Examination.

He has been invited to participate in the revision of laws, regulations and rules such as the Work Safety Law of the People's Republic of China, Coal Mine Safety Regulations, Supervision and Management Measures for the "Three Simultaneities" of Safety Facilities in Construction Projects, Interim Provisions on the Investigation and Management of Work Safety Accidents and Hidden Dangers, and Interim Measures for the Safety Management of Outsourced Projects in Non-Coal Mines, with his personal research achievements written into legal provisions. He has given more than 20 study guidance sessions on the Work Safety Law for leading officials of cities, counties and districts such as Nanjing and Huai'an, as well as law enforcement cadres of some provincial bureaus of the National Mine Safety Administration. He has also lectured more than 200 times on work safety training for the National Mine Safety Administration, the Training Center of the Ministry of Emergency Management, the China National Coal Association, city/county governments, and central and local enterprises.
