From May 30th to 31st, the 10th International Conference on Resources, Energy, Environment, and Sustainable Development (ERESD 2024) hosted its 8th sub-forum on "Resource and Energy Security and Emergency Management," which was jointly organized by the School of Public Policy & Management (School of Emergency Management), the School of Foreign Studies, and the School of Architecture&Design, encompassing 10 sub-topics, including "Energy Security and National Governance, Ecological Security and Territorial Management, Food Security and Farmland Protection, Environmental Security and Dual Carbon Governance, and Economic Security and Global Governance." The sub-forum received 62 papers from various institutions both domestically and internationally, including Arizona State University, GK Design Group from Japan, University of Pembangunan Nasional Veteran, Jagannath University, University of the Punjab, Hawassa University, Tsinghua University, Shanxi Agricultural University, and Xi'an University of Science and Technology. A total of 25 oral presentations were scheduled, comprising 6 keynote speeches and 19 regular presentations. In addition, the sub-forum featured two postgraduate student forums, with 15 and 22 oral presentations respectively.
Prof. Xu Xiaolin from Hunan Agricultural University, Prof. Gerald Z LAN (Lan Zhiyong) from Arizona State University and Tsinghua University, Prof. Wang Yibao, Prof. Wang Feng, Prof. Yan Qingwu, Prof. Li Aibin, Prof. Wang Chao, and Prof. Li Xin successively presided over the presentations at the main forum. Mr. Yoshiaki Osada, General Manager of GK Design Organization (Shanghai), Prof. Mohammad Abdul Quader from Jagannath University, Prof. Sawaid Abbas from the University of the Punjab, Prof. Dong-Gill Kim from Hawassa University, and Lecturer Aldin Ardian from the University of Pembangunan Nasional Veteran were among the 25 scholars who delivered presentations.
Postgraduate student forums were held in Room A508 and A406 in the School of Public Policy & Management (School of Emergency Management), chaired by Vice Deans Yan Qingwu and Li Aibin, along with Professors Wang Chao and Li Xin. Scholars and postgraduate students engaged in comprehensive and in-depth discussions on topics such as online government and digital governance, resilient communities and grassroots emergency response, urban transformation and spatial governance, and heritage protection management in resource regions.
The conference concluded with the selection of six outstanding papers.
The convening of this international conference has enhanced the level of external communication in our school, providing an international exchange platform for all faculty and students. It has further expanded the influence of the discipline of public policy and management of our school in the academic world and provided opportunities for the cultivation of international talents for our school.
