To deepen international exchanges and cooperation and broaden overseas further study pathways for students, our school successfully held an online recruitment seminar for study abroad programs at Vrije Universiteit Brussel (VUB), Belgium, on March 15, 2026. The seminar was specially hosted by Ms. Tong Xiaohong, Asia Program Officer of the International Office at VUB. More than 40 teachers and students from relevant departments and schools of our university, as well as Ms. Ma Yajing, Deputy Director of the Office of International Cooperation and External Exchanges of our school, attended the online event.
At the beginning of the seminar, Ms. Tong gave a brief introduction to the general situation of Belgium and the educational history of Vrije Universiteit Brussel. She then delivered a detailed interpretation of the further study pathways and program offerings that students are highly concerned about. As introduced by Ms. Tong, VUB provides a wealth of master’s programs taught entirely in English, with no requirements for local Belgian languages. The university offers more than 30 majors covering a wide range of fields, including Geography, Chemistry, Environmental Science, Bioengineering, Computer Science, Business Administration and other disciplines.
Notably, the university’s Geography, Chemistry and other high-quality majors have established cooperative partnerships with prestigious universities such as KU Leuven and Ghent University, offering joint degree programs with premium academic resources and research conditions. For current undergraduate students, VUB has launched "3+2" or "4+1/4+2" undergraduate-master’s joint training programs with multiple Chinese universities, including our university. Qualified students can directly pursue a master’s degree at VUB upon completing their undergraduate studies in China.
In addition, Ms. Tong elaborated on a series of practical matters in detail, covering language requirements, tuition fees, scholarship application procedures, part-time work opportunities for international students, and graduate employment prospects, providing comprehensive and practical information for students planning to study abroad.
During the interactive Q&A session, teachers and students actively raised questions concerning application procedures, major selection and other key issues, and Ms. Tong gave careful and targeted answers, offering precise and professional guidance for students’ further study planning.
This seminar has effectively built an informative platform for international further study, and deepened teachers and students’ understanding of Vrije Universiteit Brussel and its study abroad programs. Our school will continue to expand overseas cooperation resources, optimize and improve international exchange services, and provide more solid support and more pathways for students to pursue further education abroad.
